Places to Visit in Van
Van is a city that has been valued by Iranian tourists in recent years but certainly deserves to be attracted by the people of our country. Van is a place you will never regret going. If you ask us, especially go to the autumn season and fall in love with Van. The places to visit in Van are usually far away from each other, so it will be ideal for 3 days here. But this does not mean that do not go to Van on the weekend. As long as you go, you will love this place.
Attention Before Going to Van!
In our opinion, the best option to travel in Van would be to rent a car. We did it this way. We did not want to waste time looking for a bus. Unfortunately, there is not a well-developed public transportation network in Van. You can also take your first step on a pleasant Van trip by renting a car at Van Ferit Melen Airport on Yolcu360.
Places You Should Visit in Van
- Muradiye Waterfall

At first, you thought we would call Lake Van, but certainly not. This is the first place you should see. If you left us, we would have lived here with our tent for at least a week. It is so peaceful that it is like a painting made with a brush. At the entrance, you pass through a suspension bridge and reach the waterfall, which is claimed to be 50 meters in height, but I am still not sure of this height.

It is an incredible wonder of nature, maybe it affected us so much because we are in autumn. That’s why I said, come here in autumn. But do not settle for this waterfall and continue inwards. Because of the landscapes, there are at least as wonderful as this place.
In general, many people take a look at the waterfall and take a few pictures. But you can take a walk around with the sound of running water and discover the hidden corners. If you want to camp, this place will be a great choice. Note: 5 TL parking fee is paid at the entrance..
- Van Cat House

How about taking out the love of animals that you have inside. Van cats are staring at you with white feathers and one with blue eyes and one with green eyes. You can help them feed by buying a couple of packages of wet food.
If you want to play with cats, we recommend that you go before noon or after 14:00. Because the time we went (between 12.00-14.00) was their sleep time and they were all asleep. The entrance fee is 3 TL. One pack of wet food is 6 TL.
Traveling in Van
- Akdamar Island and Church
Yes, we can go to Van Lake now. There is only one Armenian church on the island and there is a tiny cafe where you can have tea. While coming from Van city center, 2 piers take the ferry to Akdamar Island. The return fare at the first pier is 20 TL, and for the second pier is 15 TL. Ferries start at 9:00 in the morning and depart as soon as they are full. They fill up immediately and do not keep you waiting for hours. On the way back, you return with the same ferry.

Ferries usually wait about 1 hour on the island, if you want to travel longer you can return by the 2nd ferry. The church is famous for its mirrors outside and deserves this reputation. Incredible workmanship! Don’t forget to take a look inside, the murals are also very well preserved. Finally, we are heading upwards to watch an exquisite view. You pass by an old ruined house and go up to the top. Then you see that stunning landscape. When you get off the ferry, you need to pay an entrance fee (15 TL). Müzekart is also valid for entrance.
- Van Castle

As you know, almost every city has a castle. Van Castle remains a little more massive next to them. You can travel around for hours.
The best way to get to know a city is to look at it from above. Castles are always built-in places that see the city best. Therefore, if there is a castle in a place you go to, you should visit it. The entrance fee is 6 TL. Müzekart is also valid for entrance.
Van Travel Guide
- Hoşap Castle

Van is also famous for its castles, we learn new. For those who like to visit historical places, this is a place with a bit of an ancient city’s taste. It is one of the places to be seen and felt when you come to Van. After Akdamar, you can turn your route here.
- Şeytan Bridge

It is located at a distance of 10 minutes after Muradiye Waterfall. So it is an intermediate point that must be added to your way back from the waterfall. This 17-meter high bridge is only 3 meters wide. The Şeytan Bridge may have taken its name because of this shortness. If you look carefully at the water flowing beneath you, you can also see the pearl mullet trying to swim against the current.
- Van Museum

Van has a museum for those who want to gather some information about the city, live and feel its soul in memories. However, we did not have the opportunity to visit the museum since we did not have time.
Where and What to Eat in Van?
We traveled all day, got tired and hungry. Well, what we will eat in Van, the first thing that comes to our mind is the pearl mullet that grows in Lake Van. The most beautiful of these is the fishmonger on boats on the lakeside. We preferred the most recommended “Mavi Göl” among fishmongers. The fish was very nice, but we may have liked the pickle that came with it rather than the fish.

Restaurants You Should Visit in Van:
- Halil İbrahim Sofrası
They are preparing a Halil İbrahim Table like its name. All kinds of meat are acceptable in the east. Eat whatever you want, it will already be delicious.
- Kervansaray Restaurant
Kagıt Kebab is deserved to be eaten.
- Kısmet Pita
Be aware that you cannot leave Van without eating Pita here.
- Van Breakfast

Unique flavors come together at Van Breakfast. You can even request this breakfast to taste Van’s famous Herbed Cheese. It also contains all sorts of natural products. It is normal to be famous. Also, you can have this breakfast in any place that starts with Sütcü, especially “Sütcü Fevzi”.
Where to Stay in Van?

Finally, we would like to recommend the hotel. Hotel Dosco is not very central, but you can still go to Cumhuriyet Street on foot. This will not be a problem if you rent a car on Yolcu360. We liked this hotel very much. If you are unstable, you can make your choice in this direction.
And more budget-friendly options are the Teacher’s House and DSI Guest Houses. You can also stay here by booking in advance. But it is very busy and always full, so call and book as soon as you decide to go. See you in the next travel guide…
