Adana is a city that has always been under the spotlight with interesting events reflected in news bulletins and TV series. So what to do when you go to Adana?
Adana is a city rich in places to see. It attracts visitors with its large streets crossing each other, with its abundant citrus trees and delicacies. It is one of the rare cities of the country with its historical richness and warm people. There are flights to Adana every day, organized by many companies. A delightful place to stay on your palate to make a weekend away. Especially if you go to the Orange Flower Festival time, you can have pleasant moments at the carnival. Let’s start if you are ready for the Adana travel guide…
Adana Travel Guide
Do not forget to check the options for car rental at Adana Şakirpaşa Airport on Yolcu360 before coming to Adana. So you can tour the streets of this big city more comfortably. Our first stop is the Stone bridge, which is one of the symbols of the city and I want to see. This 21-eyed historical monument from the Roman period on the Seyhan river is worth seeing. It always makes me happy to see the bridges and structures of great importance in our history.
When I moved to the central park, which is 15 minutes away from the stone bridge, I couldn’t hide my surprise at that moment. The park is a beautiful and big place to see with its grass fields, various trees, and the peace of nature. Take the photograph by fitting the park, Sabanci mosque, and Stone bridge into one square. This park is not only the largest in Adana but also the largest park in Turkey. I’m sure you can spend a day here in peace.
A stop that should not be missed in the Adana travel guide
The beautiful Sabanci Central Mosque located in the park fascinates you. This magnificent mosque was opened for worship in 1998 with the title of the biggest mosque of Turkey and the Middle East’s. Along with the open space, about 28,000 people could worship at the same time. It is fascinating to see the 6 minaret Sabancı Central Mosque. When you come to Adana, this place must be in your visiting program.
Although this city is very hot, it has wonderful big parks. One of the other places to see is the Grand Mosque, one of the symbolic structures of Adana. In architectural style, it reflects the Seljuk and Mamluk style. It draws attention with its resemblance to the Grand Mosque in Bursa. The city is made with excellent planning. It is very nice that each street crosses each other. There is absolutely no possibility of getting lost. The clock tower, which is the largest in our country with its length, should also be seen.
While you are here, you can visit the Historical Kazancılar Bazaar, located right next to it. It is a cute bazaar with masters interested in copper and boiler making. I recommend you to enjoy this bazaar. Bebekli Church should also be on the list of things to see when you come to Adana. The statue of Mary from bronze on the church is worth seeing. Italian Catholic Church should also be among the places to see during your visit to Adana. One of the beautiful places for photography is the Historical Adana Train Station. The beauties that I can see from my day trip were enough to make me happy.
Things To Do In Adana
Another Adana travel guide stops worth visiting is Anavarza Castle and its ancient city, 70 km away from Adana city center. Misis Ancient City on the edge of Ceyhan River, Şah Meran (serpentine) Castle, located in the heights of Çukurova and Şar Ancient City within the boundaries of Tufanbeyli district are other historical beauties to be seen. Cube Waterfalls in the Aladağ district are also a real natural wonder. It is one of the natural beauties to be seen by renting a car.
I could only see Anavarza Castle and Shah Meran Castle. The Varda Bridge, also known as the German Bridge, should also be seen. To get here, you should rent a car on Yolcu360. Transportation to these places is difficult except for private vehicles.
A Special Stop in Adana Travel Guide: What to Eat in Adana?
It would be unfair not to eat Adana’s famous kebab in the city center. With the abundance of appetizers and the taste of kebab, this kebab is truly beautiful in its hometown. When I come to Adana, it would be a shame if I return without eating the kebab. My suggestion is Kebapçı Hasan Usta, Cigerci Şeyhmus, and Cigerci Bedo. If you like Şırdan and Mumbar, then the destination is Şırdancı Bedo. Rotten (Çürük) soup is also one of the local tastes you can try.
Fellah, which is garlic meatballs, is one of my favorite tastes. It is unique here, a delicious dish prepared with semolina and bulgur. When Adana is mentioned, Kazım Büfe is one of the places I visit every time I come. Banana milk is legendary, and plenty of cheddar toast is recommended. If you want to eat a variety of ravioli, please note this place. Order Circassian ravioli and famous greasy ravioli at Tokana Manti house, if you don’t like it, let me know.
Also, do not forget that you are in the homeland of the turnip and try it. I met later but it is not missing from my table. One of the street delicacies is Bici Bici, namely the water pudding. I love the dessert even though the ice grated on it feels strange. You can try the Thorn fig or Indian fig, which is a cactus fruit, one of the delicacies you will encounter on the streets of Adana. They give it cold, I suggest you try. You can also check Adana flavors for different suggestions in the Adana travel guide.
